What is Orthopedic Physiotherapy
Orthopedic physical therapy is a specialty within physical therapy. This specialty focuses mainly on complaints of the musculoskeletal system (muscles and joints). For example, think guidance for rehabilitation after surgery or recovery from injury. In orthopedic physiotherapy, we focus on mobility, coordination, muscle strength, stability and endurance. Orthopedic physical therapy is also often called orthopedic rehabilitation precisely because specialized orthopedic physical therapists are so important during rehabilitation.
Who is Orthopedic Physiotherapy for?
Orthopedic physical therapy is the appropriate care for people recovering after surgery or after a (sports) injury. We therefore counsel many people after serious injuries such as cruciate ligament injuries, meniscus injuries, muscle injuries or complex bone fractures. We also see many clients before and after orthopedic surgery on hip, knee, wrist, shoulder and ankle. Orthopedic physical therapists are thus ideally suited to assist you in returning to your former level (or better!) after an injury or surgery.
